Chios enjoys about 265 days of sunshine a year, like most of the Greek islands, and it has a warm Mediterranean climate influenced by the Aegean Sea. There is hardly any rain in the summers, which are warm, but not too hot, with maximum temperatures between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius. Incidentally, temperatures of about 40 degrees Celsius can be reached, but in the winter, the temperature in the mountain areas to the north can drop below zero degrees Celsius. A north-easterly sea breeze, particularly in August, can provide some cooling on the hottest days. The seawater has a temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius in the middle of summer.

Winters on Chios are generally mild and pleasant with maximum temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.

It can be said that a sun worshipper could not wish for a better place than the south of Chios: the sun shines abundantly from spring to autumn. In fact, it is crucial there is no rain for the mastic harvest.
